MuscleTone Records Unveils DVD on July 6th, 2004
Sonic Revolution: A Celebration of the MC5 is a full-length concert. Filmed live at London's famed 100 Club, here is all the energy and poetry of the music of the MC5 played by the surviving band members and guests who have an enduring connection to this music and who played for an audience that was just plain nuts about being there.
This long-awaited release also includes Faction Films' 30-minute documentary originally broadcast on UK Channel 4 featuring interviews with Jack White, Primal Scream's Mani, The Go, Richard Fearless (Death in Vegas), among many others and narrated by Mojo Magazine editor Andrew Male and BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe. Also included is a special section of raw, behind-the-scenes rehearsal and interview footage as well as historic early live performance and TV footage that brings the band's whole story from its working class beginnings in 1960's Detroit right into today. And, available for the first time for sale, John and Leni Sinclair's Kick Out The Jams promotional video and band-narrated home videos from the Detroit communal artist workshop days. It's a new fan's guide through the pioneering musical and socio-political world of the MC5 as well as a collector's dream come true.
Never before have these great songs been performed with the excitement captured on this historic night in March, 2003 in a tiny club in London. It's a celebration of music as powerful and relevant today as it ever was. Maybe, more so.
MC5 Vets Davis, Kramer, Thompson to tour as DKT/MC5
This summer, Michael Davis, Wayne Kramer and Dennis "Machine Gun" Thompson will perform the music of the MC5 live with a revolving cast of special guest musicians. Dates will be announced soon. Artists to Amend 3 Strikes Law
Catch Wayne will appearing live on "Rock 50" with Mike Stark to discuss the Three Strikes Law and the upcoming Justice Jam... And maybe sing a song or two. WPMD is on 1700 AM in the Los Angeles area and can also be streamed online here. The show will air Saturday February 21, 2004 from 11 am - 1pm.
